“The business adds value by taking infrastructure projects through their design, construction and early operating development”.

Infrastructure Development

Infrastructure development, also known as greenfield infrastructure, involves the financing and management of new-build projects through their design, construction and early operating phases.

InfraRed’s focus is on Public Private Partnerships (“PPPs”), which are usually based around long-term concessions with public-sector counterparties as clients.

We are one of the longest-standing investors in this sector. We began investing in 1997 after a period advising the U.K. Government on its PPP programme. Since then the business has expanded globally.

The team has invested in over 45 projects with capital expenditure in the region of US$20 billion. We cover a range of sectors including government accommodation, education, health, rail and road.

We focus on developed economies with robust and enforceable legal frameworks, primarily in Western Europe, North America, Singapore and Australia.

Our investment team comprises experienced individuals with backgrounds in private equity, engineering, construction and facilities management. We pride ourselves on our skills in identifying, analysing, structuring and managing the key risks involved in the schemes in which we invest.

Recent projects include:

  • the high-profile Singapore Sports Hub, the country’s national stadium, with associated sporting and commercial facilities
  • the A63 road in France
  • the New Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia
