Environmental Infrastructure

InfraRed has been actively investing in the environmental infrastructure sector since 2006, expanding its longstanding presence in the mainstream infrastructure market. Its focus is the development, construction and early operation of infrastructure that benefits the environment, including renewable energy, water treatment and waste.

The investment approach is to source infrastructure opportunities directly from the market, via intermediaries or through involvement in partnership or joint venture development vehicles. The investment strategy is to secure long-term, stable cash flows from investing in proven commercial technologies within established investment sectors in economically and politically stable regions. The business adds value through the active management of projects, often taking them through development and construction.

InfraRed has direct experience in investing in on-shore wind farms in the UK, photovoltaic installations in Europe and water treatment in Australia. It is seeking investment opportunities in Europe in the wind, photovoltaics and concentrated solar thermal sectors.

Recent experience in the environmental sector includes a joint venture to develop three 25MW on-shore wind farms in Wales. Other U.K. wind experience includes an investment in a joint venture led by the Carbon Trust, the U.K. government body that promotes low carbon ventures, to develop 500MW of renewable generation on public sector land.
