Our Business
InfraRed is one of the longest-standing investors in infrastructure, with an investment track record of more than 15 years. In real estate the business has evolved over 20 years from a U.K. mezzanine lender to an active manager and investor in Europe and Asia.
At InfraRed, we have built a wealth of experience and expertise investing in a broad range of real estate and infrastructure projects. While the sub-sectors and type of investment vary from project to project, we always seek investment opportunities which offer scope to deploy our asset management experience and structuring skills. The table below provides a short description of each of our business areas.
Our Business Areas overview
-
Infrastructure Development
Infrastructure Development involves the management of infrastructure projects through their design, construction and early operating phases.
Our team of infrastructure professionals, experienced in the fields of private equity, engineering, construction and facilities management, is skilled in identifying, analysing, mitigating and managing risks including construction, operating, counterparty and revenue risks.
-
Secondary Infrastructure
Secondary infrastructure (also known as brownfield infrastructure) may be defined as the buying and selling of investments in and management of existing infrastructure assets, generally in their operational, cash-yielding phase.
In March 2006, the team successfully launched HICL Infrastructure Company Limited (‘HICL’), the first infrastructure company listed on the London Stock Exchange to invest in yielding infrastructure projects. HICL was seeded with the assets purchased from InfraRed’s first greenfield infrastructure fund.
-
Environmental Infrastructure
InfraRed has been actively investing in the environmental infrastructure sector since 2006, expanding its longstanding presence in the mainstream infrastructure market.
Its focus is the development, construction and early operation of infrastructure that benefits the environment, including the renewable energy, water treatment and waste sectors.
-
Asian Real Estate
InfraRed has been actively investing in the Asian real estate market since early 2007.
The investment strategy is predominantly focused on direct real estate with repositioning or development potential. The business adds value through a combination of its structuring skills, hands-on active asset management and proven operating processes and controls.
-
European Real Estate
InfraRed has been an active investor and manager in real estate for 20 years.
Drawing from its broad technical resource base, the team has a strong track record of adding value to properties through refurbishment, letting, development and asset repositioning. Transactions are sourced through the team’s extensive relationship network with institutions, corporates, asset managers, brokers and other intermediaries.
