Development of a 1,000,000 sqft distribution centre for Amazon.co.uk in the U.K.
Involving a forward funding commitment for the construction of a new pre-let distribution centre for Amazon, the leading online retailer, this transaction included the acquisition of 39 acres of land adjacent to the M90 motorway near Dunfermline, Scotland (16 miles northwest of Edinburgh) by InfraRed’s European real estate team in January 2011.
Amazon will be distributing a big range of products to customers across the U.K. from this state-of-the-art facility.
The transaction was completed within challenging deadlines, with only three weeks elapsing between instruction of legal counsel and financial close. Construction completed at the end of October 2011, a building period of less than 10 months. Early access, for Amazon to fit out in time for the Christmas 2011 trading season, was granted as early as July.
